RED BARN DENTAL 

Our story begins in Quebec City, where Dr. Mike Poitras and Dr. Cathy Deschenes first met while living in the same apartment building. What started as a chance encounter soon grew into a shared life—and a shared dream.

After getting married, they began searching for the perfect place to build both a family and a dental practice—somewhere that felt like home, between Dr. Mike’s roots in Sudbury and Dr. Cathy’s in Quebec City. When a small practice on Stittsville Main Street became available from a retiring dentist, they knew they had found it.
Stittsville quickly became more than just a place to work—it became home. It’s where they grew their family, built lasting relationships, and created a practice centered on care, connection, and community.

Before Dr. Cathy and Dr. Mike took ownership, the Cessford family were already longtime patients of the clinic. What no one could have predicted at the time was how beautifully their stories would intertwine. Years later, not one—but two—of the Cessford sisters would return, this time as dentists.

Dr. Erin Cessford was the first to discover her passion for dentistry. During her studies, she would visit the clinic whenever she could, learning firsthand under the mentorship of Dr. Cathy and Dr. Mike. Before long, Dr. Kristen Cessford followed in her sister’s footsteps, continuing the tradition.

From one family to another, the practice grew not just in size—but in heart.

And sometimes, the right people come along at just the right time. When Dr. Yvonne Sondy made her way to the Ottawa area from Hamilton, everything simply clicked. Her warmth, skill, and values made her a natural fit, and she quickly became an important part of our team.

Today, our practice is more than a dental office—it’s a place where relationships span generations, where patients become like family, and where our story continues to grow.
